Nā Koa Ali'i Hawaiʻi All-State Marching Band

A tradition since 2002

AlohaMusic is proud to announce the official merger with the Hawai‘i All-State Marching Band (HASMB) – Nā Koa Ali‘i, effective March 31, 2025. This merger ensures the continued legacy of one of Hawai‘i’s most prestigious youth music programs while expanding opportunities for students across the islands.

Since its founding in 2002 by Mr. John Riggle, HASMB has provided high school musicians from across Hawai‘i with once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities at major national and international events, including the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Under Riggle’s leadership, the ensemble has served as a cultural ambassador, blending traditional Hawaiian elements with contemporary marching techniques.

As part of this transition, Mr. Riggle will be appointed as an Advisor and Marching Band Director Emeritus at AlohaMusic, where he will continue to provide expert guidance and mentorship. His decades of experience and unwavering dedication to Hawai‘i’s young musicians have made an indelible impact on the marching arts community. In his new role, Riggle will offer strategic advice and support the band’s educational vision while helping to shape its future.

“Mr. Riggle’s contributions to the Hawai‘i All-State Marching Band are immeasurable, and we are honored that he will continue to serve as a guiding force in this next chapter.”
